Yes you need to change the oil, but this engine ran hot and warped the valves so bad they stuck out of there seats and caused damage. I had this happen to me. You noticed the bearings look good and really there are no signs of low oil.

My buddy is in O’Fallon MO, he needs a new engine in his 2019 Ram. The 5.7 hemi through a rod at only 107k miles. Any suggestions for a really good reputable shop he can go to? They denied his extended warranty claim.

Engine looks cyberpunk with all those bronze colored parts, ⛓ and rotors. I wouldn't want that under the hood of my vehicle tho.

From experience driving numerous different 2020-2022 Ford Explorer Hybrid models (both hybrid and non-hybrid models have pursuit mode), pursuit mode typically activates automatically after high throttle input for prolonged periods of time. Pursuit mode changes when the vehicle shifts. The vehicle will automatically downshift when braking to provide the benefit of engine braking and will hold a low gear or downshift further if necessary to be in the most effective/highest torque producing gear when the brakes are released so that the vehicle can accelerate sooner. When pursuit mode is active and the throttle is released, the vehicle will hesitate upshifting and hold high-RPMs so that when throttle is applied it is already in the most appropriate lowest gear for acceleration. Pursuit mode will deactivate after a period of time of normal driving behaviors or when the vehicle has been parked for a while. You will know when pursuit mode is active because the vehicle will display a more aggressive pattern of shifting. Also a blue shield icon with a blue SUV in front will illuminate on the instrument cluster. To my knowledge, there is no manual way to activate pursuit mode. Pursuit mode is very noticeable and effective when driving on non-highway settings, such as urban or suburban environments.

Ford timing chains just get longer and longer. I had a Ford 4.0 sohc V6 , and I thought it was a nightmare to repair until I see another Ford monstrosity like this. I'll take the good old fashion pushrod motors myself. Too much speed kills the passengers but too much RPM kills the motor. Pursuit mode allowed this motor to rev far past the limits of this design.

Sounds like a major lawsuit to me! I'd sue them for engine replacement costs plus all legal fees and I would win! Let Audi go after their part suppliers that isn't my problem! Also, I won't be buying an Audi at any point in the future! I'd have the car towed back to the dealer and leave it in their showroom with the engine missing!

Amazing the junk Ford has put out over the years.... I've dealt with the wonderous Ford Trident engines. GM and mopar too for that matter. There are exceptions of course but we don't see them here. :)

I recommend a door panel puller for breaking small parts like that loose. It has an angled tip like Blue, but it is bifurcated so it can bite into gaskets or slide behind gearshafts. Harbor Freight sells them, as do most auto parts stores. In some circles they are known as a "gratistatifo" or "Agresta-matic".

I own a 2016 Chrysler 200 with the 3.6L and it has been a very good and reliable engine since new. Just keep up with regular maintenance and Bob's your Uncle.

The Ford 3.3 L has the Is pursuit mode that let the motor run at high rpm's for a long time. The top speed is 150 MPH. I would say that that 3.3L had run in pursuit mode to many times. If you think about it that is good for a small 3.3L ci. To run 150 MPH top speed is good. They are just throw away motors. I was reading months ago if anyone is looking for a good Explorer try to find a low miles police Interceptor with the 3.3L because they will last a long time even the transmission was build ti hold up to high speed an not burn them up. I looked around here in Central Missouri only ones I could find was 2017 to 2022. Priced at $6900 to 12,000. The dealers know what they have .

I know diesels can "run away" where it can't stop itself and goes until it can't. Its possible for a gas engine to do that but highly unlikely. The direct injection could be a cause but no sure on that either. those back bearing got super hot that is for sure.

Having my grandads 4.0l ranger has been my best ride most reliable with more available aftemarket compared to my explorer that has a good engine but body has so much corrosion body bushings were crumbling in my hands, some of the plastics have gotten brittle, metal parts are snapping off already. it grinds on starts with or without new battery. probobally needs a new flex plate or a starter maybe both im not sure yet🤷‍♂️.

Are you f'n kidding me... it's a one litre engine and puts out over 120 HP and you say it's not good power... sheesh. The fuel efficiency figure you have quoted is also wrong wrong wrong... it does about 44 MPG (US) in combined city highway in a small SUV. It's both power output and fuel economy are excellent...
